It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that American Legion Thailand Post TH01 makes this announcement: the Reedy family announces that Comrade Joe Reedy died peacefully among close family at his home in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, on 04 May 2023. Comrade Reedy died of natural causes, taking his last breaths surrounded by his loving family.

Joe’s originally from Missouri, serving in the U.S. Air Force, from 1968-1978, as a jet engine technician and mechanic, working on C-130s in the engine test cell, and stationed around the world: Amarillo A.F. Base, TX., Naha A.B., Okinawa, Ching Chuan Kang A.B., Taiwan, Kadena A.B., Okinawa, and Randolph A.F. Base, TX.
He came to Thailand, 17 years ago, after his wife died from cancer. Shortly after arriving in Thailand, he remarried and adopted a daughter. He was a Charter Member of the American Legion at Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, Brigadier General Robin Olds Post No. TH01, serving as a Member-at-Large and Public Affairs Officer. He was also an admin., for many years, on ASEAN NOW (formerly, thaivisa.com), helping many foreigners with excellent Thai-visa advice.

Comrade Reedy is survived by…
1) his 2 daughters from his 1st marriage in the U.S.A.: Bettie Bikes of Houston, TX. and Johanna Rider, and
2) his wife and adopted daughter from his 2nd marriage in Thailand: Lui and Risa, respectively.
Joe’s family invited friends for his funeral services at Wat Dam Pra, Monday, 08 May 2023, at 2:00 P.M (1400). Wat Dam Pra also had a prayer service for Joe, Sunday, 07 May 2023, at 7:00 P.M. (1900).
